The desert city of Sabzevar was previously called Bayhagh.
Sabzevar is located within a distance of 70 kilometers from Mashad.
It is a historical city and the main site of the Sarbedaran movement.
The l3th century Jami Mosque and Khosrowgerd Minaret are two monuments that have remained from the time when the
city was still called Bayhagh.
Sabzevar is composed of two parts, mountainous and plain.

In the year 1368 AD, this city was completely ruined after the attack of Mongols.
Sabzevar was place of refuge and capital city of Sarbedaran movement.
In the period of Ozbakans, this city was ruined again but is Safavid time developed once more.
In last decades, Sabzevar has flourished again. There are a few important historical monuments such as:
Haft Masoom and Yahya Imamzadeh.
Fasihieh, Kohneh, Fakhrieh and Shariatmadar Schools,Jame. Mosques of Chashm

Sabzevar rugs have curvature in their patterns and designs.
The main characteristic of Sabzevar rugs is rounded medallions that make is different from other
rugs in this region. There is big similarity between Sabzevar rugs
and the ones that are produced in Mashad. You can find Herati designs in older Sabzevar rugs.
The main colors of Sabzevar rugs are Dark red, blue, and khaki.
There are other colors existing in newer Sabzevar rugs such as soft green and brown.
