HOW THE PERSIAN RUGS ARE MADE?
- There are expert artisans who design rugs in every region. They do their work according to the style and culture of each area.
- The rug maker -knotted rug artisan- selects a design and colours it as if he/she was a painter using his taste and feeling. Every rug, same as a painting, uses shades of the same colour. More than 700 colours and shades are used. Then he/she sends it to another expert. By using natural tints said expert dyes the threads until he/she gets the exact colours selected by the rug maker.
- As soon as the rug maker has the coloured threads he/she begins to work on the rug knots. Thanks to his/her skilled hands, his/her feelings and his/her experience they will turn into a unique master piece someday. An average rug has 250,000 knots per square meter and an artisan is able to complete a maximum of 4,000 knots a day. Therefore, he/she requires around 63 days of work to finish one square meter.
